She’s finally free
It was 2022. I was living in Ocean Beach, California with my dog, Lukas. I felt good. I was surfing, my home was filled with color, and it felt like the sun kissed me every time I stepped outside.
One day, I went to a thrift store, bought a pink cowboy hat, played some music, took nudes, and decided to paint myself because I was simply full of energy and felt like it. Sophie Tea was a big inspiration for this painting. I loved her energy, and I loved that the painting didn't have to make sense. It's scribbles. Color. Intuition. So I got to it.
And then she hung on my wall for four years.
Then, in 2026, I picked up my paint again and added new marks over the woman I had painted four years earlier. She had developed more scars, but also more color. She embodies the fearless, silly, confident girl in me. The one who is messy and perfectly imperfect. When I painted her, I had no idea she would hold the key to an entire collection that wouldn't exist until years later.
I think she's finally ready for a new home.
